MSR estimates that St. Louis and St. Charles Counties annually produce tens
of thousands of tons of residential asphalt shingles. Included in that total is
the thousands of tons of shingles that are generated by and buried in St. Louis
County landfills each year.
It is MSR’s goal to work with neighboring counties to coordinate
a network for the collection, storage and transfer of acceptable
residential asphalt shingles to the Midwest Asphalt Shingle Processing Facility
in the St. Louis and St. Charles Community so that all available shingle material
can be recycled and beneficially reused.
